Lumenis UltraPulse® Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing

What is fractional CO2 laser? Fractional CO2 laser is the latest non-invasive resurfacing procedure that works on the concept of fractional photothermolysis whereby high power laser energy is delivered into the skin in many narrow microbeams over fractions of areas. This induces heat injury to the superficial layer of the treated skin. The untreated normal tissue surrounding the thermally damaged zones accelerates the healing process followed by remodeling and new collagen formation. How does Lumenis UltraPulse® Fractional CO2 laser work? It utilizes the technology of DeepFx, ActiveFx and Total Fx modes to deliver high power of narrow microbeams into layers of skin to treat various skin conditions. It is used most effectively for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation on the face, neck and hands of both men and women. What advantages does Lumenis UltraPulse® has compared to other CO2 laser machines? Collapsed during laser procedure?

SUNGAI PETANI: It was the childhood dream of N. Dinesh Nair, 25, to become a policeman, but he was worried that a few tattoos on his back would jeopardise his chances. He begged a private doctor to remove the tattoos as he had a police recruitment interview, but died two weeks after the procedure, believed to be due to skin infections and other medical complications. His brother N. Gobinair, 30, said Dinesh had gone to a clinic here to have the tattoos removed on Sept 12, as he had been notified to attend the recruitment interview soon. “He wanted so much to be a policeman. But now he is gone, with his dream unfulfilled,” said Gobinair. It is understood that the doctor initially rejected his request, but he almost went down on his knees to beg the doctor, who relented. Gobinair said Dinesh collapsed and fell unconscious in the middle of the procedure at about 4.30pm that day and the doctor called an ambulance which took Dinesh to the Sultan Abdul Halim Ho

Is Isotretinoin safe?

Is there cure for acne? I would say, yes. After years of treating acne with various treatment regimes, I still find systemic Isotretinoin offers the best outcome (> 90% efficacy from clinical studies) and potential cure, albeit significant side effects. Try google the word "Roacutane", you will see more negative than positive comments. Some are absurd and some are hate pages. Whatever it is, no one will understand the feeling of those patients with severe acne and especially those nodulo-cystic type, where patients end up with permanent facial scarring, if they never experienced themselves. No one can denied the significant side effects caused by Isotretinoin, but the key words here are, "severe", "nodulo-cystic", "unresponsive" and "scarring". Therefore, Isotretinoin should be considered as first line treatment for people with severe, nodulo-cystic acne that cause severe scarring or those who fails treatments with conventio
