SUNGAI PETANI: It was the childhood dream of N.
Dinesh Nair, 25, to become a policeman, but he was worried that a few
tattoos on his back would jeopardise his chances.
He begged a private doctor to remove the tattoos as he had a police
recruitment interview, but died two weeks after the procedure, believed
to be due to skin infections and other medical complications.
His brother N. Gobinair, 30, said Dinesh had gone to a clinic here
to have the tattoos removed on Sept 12, as he had been notified to
attend the recruitment interview soon.
“He wanted so much to be a policeman. But now he is gone, with his dream unfulfilled,” said Gobinair.
It is understood that the doctor initially rejected his request, but
he almost went down on his knees to beg the doctor, who relented.
Gobinair said Dinesh collapsed and fell unconscious in the middle of
the procedure at about 4.30pm that day and the doctor called an
ambulance which took Dinesh to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital where he
was warded for two weeks.
He died at about 5.30am on Thursday and his body was claimed by relatives.
Gobinair has lodged a police report over the incident.
Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Khalil Ariffin said that police had
received the report on the incident and were in the middle of
investigating the case.
“The deceased encountered excessive bleeding during the removal attempt,” he said.
“We will await the post-mortem report to confirm the cause of death.”

Sounded very fishy somewehere. Chinese dailies reported a different version.
Anyway, Q-Switched ND:Yag Laser (1064nm) is the gold standard for tattoo pigment removal. The laser targets the pigment below the skin surface. If done according to protocol, there should not be any break in the skin.
